Platinum Games has been developing a new Action RPG title, a sequel to NieR and sort of a weird branch off of the Drakengard series. It’s mentioned there will be returning characters from the first NieR. The characters we are dealing with now are members of an automated infantry group called YoRHa. 2B is the main playable character, and is supposed to be cool under even the most dire circumstances. All the playable characters are stated to be battle androids under YoRHA.
The story given at this point is that invaders have come from another world and attacked with machines. Humanity is driven from Earth, taking shelter on the moon where they develop these android soldiers to fight back but merely buy themselves time. YoRHa is a specially designed faction devised to break the stalemate to reclaim the Earth. Now, a forgotten truth of this world will be dredged up by this conflict.
